Art Therapy Groups
Art therapy groups offer the experience of making alongside others, of being witnessed, and of discovering that what feels most private is often most shared. Groups at the Art Therapy Nook are small, closed, and structured around a clear therapeutic arc. They are not classes, workshops, or drop-in sessions.
New group cycles run periodically throughout the year.
You're welcome to reach out and get on the waitlist for a future cycle.
Reclaiming the Creative Self
8-Week Group Cycles:
Current: July-Sept 2026 (closed)
Upcoming: Oct-Nov 2026 (waitlist)
This is a closed art therapy group for adults who want to reconnect with creativity and art as a form of self-care, self-expression, and self-discovery. No art experience or skill required.
Over eight weeks, the group moves through three phases, each building on the one before it.
We begin in mindful and somatic practice by slowing down and orienting to the present experience through grounding exercises and body-based awareness. Doing so helps settle your nervous system and opens the door to a flow state, that felt sense of creating without overthinking. This is where trust starts to build, both with the process and with the group.
From there, we move into playful experimentation. This is where the real work with the inner critic happens. You'll try mediums and directives that stretch your comfort zone, not to master anything, but to loosen the grip of perfectionism and the myths you've absorbed about what it means to be "an artist" or do art "the right way." Surprise is often the point.
We close by turning toward artistic identity. The final weeks are about integration, taking what you've discovered in the previous weeks and asking what it means for how you see yourself and your creative life going forward. This is where you start to hear your own creative voice, maybe for the first time, and think about what it would look like to keep listening after the group ends.
By the end of the eight weeks, you won't necessarily be "better" at art. You'll have a different relationship with creativity, and with yourself.
